"My initial admiration on the structure of the story, about the brilliance of the design, with the story of the romance interspersed between session scenarios, was reaffirmed at the very end with the final chapter serving as an epilogue. Your cleverness, often subtle, and your wit, rarely subtle, showed in many places!"

"What a fascinating and brilliant format! A clever self-help guide disguised as a romance novel?! Too early to tell, really. The readers gets to size themselves up against session scenarios. Such an ingenious idea to have the reader step into the therapist’s office without them sitting on the couch, but, in fact, they have been lured into a non-threatening, guided self-analysis, all with subtle reinforcements for behavior change. Really nice work and very clever! Bravo!"

"I finally just picked up your book and I am DYING I can literally imagine this character saying and experiencing these things. I am dead. You are brilliant and so talented. I’m on to chapter 2 soon."

"Super creative, wonderfully well-crafted book!  Congratulations again!

What an original, inventive feat!  I can so see it being a movie… with the story beginning at the ending, with vignettes of counseling practice interspersed with the story’s key relationship..."

"Fantastic story!
Magically inserts marriage therapy and relationship advice with the foibles of Dr. Pepper James.

Great romance read for women over 50! I feel like anything is possible after reading this unusual novel."

"Cyber Nothing is therapist Mary James’ first novel. Her writing style flows smoothly and her colorful descriptions are rich in detail to create a vivid picture of each situation she describes. I loved reading this book.
Mary’s unbridled humor drew me in. I was in stitches as I read through the encounter between Dr. Pepper James, the central character, and a cyber Scrabble player (I’ll call him Mr. Scrabble).
Yet Mary’s experience and skill as a therapist is evident as she describes Pepper’s therapy sessions with clients. Following each of the sessions Mary provides resources for those who want to know more and questions anyone can use to initiate conversation.
On a deeper level Cyber Nothing highlights the moral struggle between Pepper’s relationship with Mr. Scrabble, its incongruence with her moral code, and her role as a marriage and family therapist. As the plot unfolds she persists to make things right.
Aside from the broad appeal and entertainment value of Cyber Nothing I think it could be a fun and helpful tool for masters and doctoral students to read as they prepare to intern in Marriage and Family Therapy."
